Manager’s Blog

6/01/2012

New General Manger

Hi, my name's Chris Hudson and I would like to introduce myself as the New General Manager at Southwood Golf Course.

Southwood has been a significant part of my life for the last 10 years starting out as a trainee professional to Head Professional and now to General Manager and I am very much looking forward to the new challenges of the golfing world.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Alison Hall for all her hard work and commitment to Southwood and wish her every success in her new adventure.

The Course

With the weather having been very kind throughout the winter months so far our members and visitors have made the most of every opportunity to play the course in great condition. The greens continue to live up to their reputation as some of the best in Hampshire and with the drainage works that have taken place over the last couple of years the course is looking and playing as well as it ever has.

I would like to thank John Mathis and his team for all their hard work throughout the year in continuing to present the course to a very high standard.

The Golf Shop

Our new computer system is now in operation which will soon allow season ticket holders and visitors to book tee times online. Once everything is finished and ready to launch you’ll be the first to hear about it! During this time we’ll also be keeping you updated with the latest news from the Golf Course, Golf Shop Promotions and forthcoming events to name a few.

Keep checking this website for all the up-to-date news.

A story from the bar

I had the pleasure of sitting in the bar chatting with our Club Captain on New Year’s Day discussing his thoughts and feelings about how his golf game had been in his Captains’ year to which he replied:

"My game has been so bad this year I had to have my ball retriever re-gripped twice!"

A Happy New Year from the team at Southwood and we look forward to catching up with everyone in the weeks ahead.
